Welcome to CCRFF!
We are a group of concerned and deeply committed residents in Cambridge. Some of us have been long time activists; others are new to Cambridge politics and related issues. We come from various parts of the city. What we all share is an interest in thoughtful engagement and exploring what is in the best interest of the city as a whole. While many of us are focused at present on the proposal for a city-wide change in residential zoning we know that the issues are much larger than this and that what impacts one neighborhood in the end impacts all of us.

I agree with a lot of what you say here, particularly the need for project-by-project approval, as opposed to blanket approval.
Thanks Jane for your comment. Agree with you on all these points. Design is key and unfortunately the city's new up-zoning plan (the Affordable Housing Overlay) will remove design control from the citizen Planning Board to the developers and also will make any new building within this "as of right" removing the ability for appeal.

Interesting new website, with relevant history and many good comments, As a recently-departed (to retirement community) long-time active resident of Cambridge, I am concerned that, if ordained, the AHO will result in more wins for the Law of Unintended Consequences than for neighborhood-compatible affordable housing projects.
